Team,
It is hard to believe we are in the home stretch of 2023 and what a year it has been! As we approach the holidays, it is always a great time to reflect and to give thanks. We have A LOT to be thankful for.
We, as The Spacesaver Group, are having another momentous year. In fact, we are projecting consolidated sales to be the second highest in our history; a tribute to your efforts, as the only way we grow is when you grow! Despite some significant challenges over the past years, the market crash of 2008, world conflicts, political unrest, and all the changes COVID brought to our business, The Spacesaver Group held together and never wavered. In fact, since 2016, we have grown 49%! This is further proof that when we work as a team, and trust and respect each other, amazing things can and do happen.
We have just finished strategic planning and budgeting for 2024 and are excited to share our plans with you at the Principals Meeting in January. We also plan on celebrating our 2023 accomplishments in Chicago and, of course, with all our Champions at Baha Mar in the Bahamas in February!
As with any new year, 2024 will bring its challenges, opportunities, and unexpected events. We will enter 2024 with a strong backlog, solid growth plans/strategies, and continued investments in our business.
It continues to be an exciting time to be a member of The Spacesaver Group. Remember to always give thanks and be grateful for our collaborative success and accomplishments.
God bless,
Mark Haubenschild | President/CEO
Congratulations to our Area Contractor teams that have a Spacesaver Group anniversary!

Spacesaver Scorecard
We have reached crunch time – the 4th quarter – and the Group is on the verge of putting together another amazing year. We had a great September to close out Q3, with 13 PARs exceeding their incoming order target, led by Spacesaver Intermountain with over $1M (316%) and Henderson Johnson at $912K (526%). This sends us into the final months of 2023 with 15 PARs over their YTD incoming quota, with HBI Office Plus still leading the % category at 244% and Bradford Systems IL/IN/MO leading the PAR top line revenue category at over $7.2M entered. We still have 3 months to go and a lot of major impact orders expected to come in … should be a great finish!
For shipments, we saw 14 PARs invoice over quota, with Southwest Solutions Group (ALL PARs) leading the Group shipping over $1.35M (147%) while Donnegan Systems was over 156%, shipping more than $800K in September. This gives us 16 PARs on the year that are over their YTD quota, with Patterson Pope Midwest leading both the % category (154%) and the PAR top line revenue bucket ($8.1M) – great year for the P2 team … and still 3 months to go!
October is already off to a hot start – looking forward to seeing how this great team finishes!
Major Projects
Putting Our Systems in Quite A Pickle: The JJ Pickle Research Campus at the University of Texas – Austin has experienced several phases of growth in relation to its high-bay storage systems. Our Major Projects Team – in conjunction with the team at Southwest Solutions – has been a part of the last two, with the latter including high value in low places thanks to an increased need for more traditional storage systems.
Needing both high-bay and “low-bay” systems, the University initiated a bid process for each category. After being awarded the high-bay contract in June, our representatives continued to pursue the “low-bay” need, because – despite the university stating another company had been chosen – the contract was not yet closed. Our persistence paid off last month, as the initial provider fell through and the contract was offered to our group.
TThe high-bay and “low-bay” installations are slated for next year in June and July, respectively. This project – with a net value of $1.68 million – is a true testament to how team selling leads to more wins!
Shout out to Casper Corporation for their push with outreach to the AEC community to drive CEU interest and presentations this year. The Casper team not only prioritized scheduling Lunch & Learns in order to hit their goal for the year, but also partnered with our Business Development Team and Channel Specialist on target lists and firms that can be challenging to get in front of, even securing a CEU with Stantec for early 2024. Thanks for Going Above PAR, Casper!

Public Safety
Our team was on-hand hailing the Chiefs again this year at the IACP Conference in San Diego. It didn’t take much evidence to see our lockers are in demand, as are our customizable officer lockers. How can we help you deliver these and more for your clients?
Officers today need to work in stations that create a healthy environment. In 2021, police departments reported a 45% increase in retirement rates and a 20% increase in resignations, fueled by an overall drop in officer morale.

Agriculture
It’s undeniable that the indoor agriculture market has hit a rough patch in the current phase of its development. Once measured by the newest technological advances in production methods, the sector is now centered on taste and affordability – no matter how it’s grown.
Though Spacesaver won’t have a booth at MJBizCon this year, that doesn’t mean we won’t be on top of the latest industry happenings revealed there. Keep an eye out for our annual recap later this quarter.

Driving Success After Sixteen Years
In 2007, the team at Southwest Solutions provided their first design and proposal for mobile shelving at the University of Alaska – Anchorage’s archives storage needs. At the time, they were operating with Spacesaver shelving that was provided 3 years prior in conjunction with a project for the University’s Consortium Library Expansion. Over the course of the next 16 years, several iterations of revisions were offered. However, none were put into action, as the university didn’t have the funding or capacity requirement for mobile at the time of the initial static shelving installation. Thanks to an opportunity to house the Senator Ted Stevens archives, the university was able to request funding from the Stevens Foundation for a mobile system that could create space to accommodate the additional boxes. In addition to securing the mobile system, the university needed funding to undergo facility upgrades including HVAC modifications, moving fire extinguishers and thermostats, upgrading the interior of the space, and move, store, and return the existing archives. Guided by Greg Moak of Southwest Solutions, the university – a Sourcewell member since 2011 – utilized a Sourcewell contract to purchase the systems, which will be installed early in 2024. Thank you, Greg and Southwest Solutions for this remarkable example of how continued persistence and care for clients’ needs can pay off!
